Nearly every supplement label says "consult your doctor," and nearly everyone skips it. Here's how to make that conversation quick and useful instead of awkward.
Don't try to recite ingredient names from memory. Bring the physical bottle or a photo of the Supplement Facts panel so your doctor or pharmacist can see exactly what's in it.
Instead of a vague "is this okay?", ask directly: "Does this interact with [your specific medication]?" For Marycept specifically, that means naming St. John's Wort and Huperzine-A if you take any prescription medication.
This doesn't need to be its own appointment. It's a reasonable question to fold into your next regular visit, or even a quick call to your pharmacist.
A five-minute conversation before your first capsule is a small cost against a real, known interaction risk. It's worth the five minutes.
